Yup, you got it right lol. That said, you could use Steam to setup a soft and hard pull trigger binding to a keyboard button. This will allow you to use the start and end of each trigger as separate buttons, giving you 4 additional actions total
All that being said, since you're apparently just getting started with DCS, I would give the game a try for a little bit (make use of the 2 week free trial), check tutorial videos and read Chuck's guide to be sure you're really committing to this before dropping a huge amount of money on a complete setup.
